Crochet Smiley Pouch Pattern | Bag Charm, AirPods Case & Coin Purse

Looking for a cute, quick, and multi-purpose crochet project? This Crochet Smiley Pouch is perfect to use as a bag charm, AirPods case, coin pouch, key cover, or lip balm holder. This beginner-friendly crochet pattern uses simple stitches and works great with scrap yarn.

Materials Required

  • Medium (4) weight yarn – Yellow
  • 3.5 mm crochet hook
  • Stitch markers
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors

Stitches Used

  • Magic Ring
  • Chain (ch)
  • Half Double Crochet (HDC)
  • Slip Stitch (sl st)
  • Single Crochet (sc)

Finished Size

Approx. palm size. Can be adjusted by changing yarn or hook size.

Written Crochet Pattern

Circle – Make 2

Round 1:
Magic ring, ch 1 (does not count as stitch), make 14 HDC into the ring. Join with slip stitch to first HDC. Pull ring tight. (14 sts)

Round 2:
Ch 1, Repeat (1 HDC, increase) 7 times. Join with slip stitch. (21 sts)

Round 3:
Ch 1,  Repeat (2 HDC, increase) 7 times. Join with slip stitch. (28 sts)

Round 4:
Ch 1, Repeat (3 HDC, increase) 7 times. Join with slip stitch. (35 sts)

Loops

For first circle: Ch 5, skip 1 stitch, sl st into next stitch to create a small loop.
For second circle: Ch 30 (or adjust length), skip 1 stitch, sl st into next stitch. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Joining the Pouch

Place both circles wrong sides together. Leave a small opening at the top. Join using single crochet through back loops of both circles until opening is formed. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Smiley Face Details

Create eyes using small gray yarn knots. Secure from the back. Embroider a simple smile between Round 2 and Round 3 using embroidery technique.

Final Touch

Turn pouch right side out. Trim extra threads. Your cute crochet smiley pouch is now ready to use or gift!
