Crochet Peacock Feather Motif

This peacock feather is simply superb and cant take my eyes off it. Now, I'm making a lot of them to gift them. These Crochet peacock feathers can be used in multiple ways. You can make it as a keychain, use it as a book mark by adding a long tail with a tassel handing to it, Make more number of feathers and add them to each other to make it a blanket/ baby dresses, or simply use it as an applique for your crochet projects.



Materials Required:

Mercerized cotton yarn of 6 bright shades

Crochet hook- 1.6 mm

Tapestry needle

A pair of scissors


As in the picture:

colour-A: navy blue

COlourr-B: light Purple

Colour- C: Yellow

Colour-D: Orange

COlour-E:dark purple

Colour- F: green


Pattern:

Begin with colour-A

ch-5 to form a ring

R-1: CH-3, 14 DC (15)

Change to Colour -B

R-2: DC INC *7, (3DC), DC INC*7 (31)

Change to Colour -C

R-3: CH-1, 13 SC, HDC INC,(DC,TC), (3TC), (TC,DC), HDC INC, 13 SC, SS (37)

Change to Colour -D

R-4: (DC INC, 2DC)*5, DC INC,DC,DC INC, (3DC), DC INC, DC, DC INC, (2DC, DC INC)*5 (53)

Change to Colour -E

R-5: CH-1, SC INC, 25 SC, (3SC), 25 SC, SC INC, SS (57)

Change to Colour -F

R-6: (CH-3,DC), HDC INC, SK 1, [(SC,CH-4, SC), SK 1] *12

(HDC, CH-3 PICOT, DC), (TC, CH-3 PICOT, DC), (DC, CH-3 PICOT, HDC), SK1,

[(SC, CH-4, SC),SK1]*12, HDC INC, DC INC, CH-3 PICOT, SS

Fasten off and leave a small tail end, weave in the ends and trim the excess thread.


Now, with the help of tapestry needle and two strands of color-C into it, add the detailing to the feather in the center to the third row.

MATERIALS USED:

cotton 4 ply yarn of any 2 colours

crochet hook- 3mm

tapestry needle

scissors

decorative beads


Abbrevations used:

ch- chain

SC- single crochet

HDC- Half Double Crochet

HDC Inc- make 2 hdc's in same stitch

DC- double crochet

SS- slip stitch

Fo- fasten off


Pattern:

with colour A

Begin with slip knot and ch-6

make a slip stitch into the first chain to form a ring.

R-1: ch-1, 12 SC's into the center. SS into the first stitch. (12)

R-2 : ch-2, ( consider this ch-2 as a first hdc in that stitch), make hdc into the same stitch. * HDC inc in the next stitch*. Repeat * to * for 11 times. (24)

change to colour B

R-3: *ch-2, 1 dc in the next stitch, now again ch-2 and make 5hdc's into the DC then slip stitch into the next stitch*. This completes one petal. Repeat * to * for 11 more times. This gives you a total of 12 petals by the end of R-3.


ch-1 and FO by leaving a little long tail end. weave in the ends and trim the excess thread. If needed, Decorate the coaster with decorative beads to enhance the look of these coasters or use as a wall hanging
