Free Crochet Mini Hat Written Pattern

Row 1:

Make a magic ring. Chain 1. Work 8 single crochet stitches into the ring. Slip stitch to the first stitch. (8 SC)

Row 2:

Chain 1. Make 2 single crochet stitches in each stitch around. Slip stitch to the first stitch. (16 SC)

Row 3:

Chain 1. Working in back loops only, make 1 single crochet in each stitch around. Do not slip stitch.

Rows 4–6:

Continue working 1 single crochet in each stitch in a spiral until desired height is reached.

Row 7:

Slip stitch into next stitch. Chain 3 (counts as DC). In front loops only, make 2 DC in each stitch around. Slip stitch to the top of chain 3. (32 stitches)

Optional Border (Row 8):

Chain 1. Work reverse single crochet (crab stitch) around to create a decorative edge. Slip stitch to finish.

Keychain Option:

Chain 15, attach key ring, slip stitch and fasten off. Weave in all ends securely.

Written Crochet Pattern

Circle – Make 2

Round 1:

Round 2:
Ch 1, Repeat (1 HDC, increase) 7 times. Join with slip stitch. (21 sts)

Round 3:
Ch 1,  Repeat (2 HDC, increase) 7 times. Join with slip stitch. (28 sts)

Round 4:
Ch 1, Repeat (3 HDC, increase) 7 times. Join with slip stitch. (35 sts)

Loops

For first circle: Ch 5, skip 1 stitch, sl st into next stitch to create a small loop.
For second circle: Ch 30 (or adjust length), skip 1 stitch, sl st into next stitch. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Joining the Pouch

Place both circles wrong sides together. Leave a small opening at the top. Join using single crochet through back loops of both circles until opening is formed. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Smiley Face Details

Create eyes using small gray yarn knots. Secure from the back. Embroider a simple smile between Round 2 and Round 3 using embroidery technique.

Final Touch
