Baby Crochet Pumpkin


Materials Needed:

  • Orange yarn (DK or worsted weight)
  • Green yarn for stem
  • 3 mm crochet hook
  • Fiberfill stuffing
  • Tapestry needle & scissors

Written Pattern (Based on Video)

Pumpkin Base:
R1: MR, 6 sc (6)
R2: inc in each st (12)
R3: (1 sc, inc) repeat (18)
R4: (2 sc, inc) repeat (24)
R5-8: sc in each st (24)
R9: (2 sc, dec) repeat (18)
R10: (1 sc, dec) repeat (12) – start stuffing firmly
R11: dec around (6)

Stem:
Attach green yarn to center top.
Ch 5, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc, hdc, dc. Fasten off.
Optional: Add 1-2 small chains for curly vines.

Finishing:
Pull yarn tail to close bottom tightly.
Shape pumpkin by passing yarn through center and pulling tight 4–5 times to form ridges.
Secure and weave in ends.

Crochet Pumpkin Tutorial – Free Pattern

Learn how to make a crochet pumpkin step by step with this easy and beginner-friendly tutorial. Perfect for Halloween, fall decorations, and Thanksgiving crafts. 🎃


Materials Needed

  • 4-ply cotton yarn – Orange & Green
  • 2.5 mm crochet hook
  • Fiberfill stuffing
  • Tapestry needle, scissors
  • Stitch marker, fabric glue (optional)

Step by Step Crochet Pumpkin Pattern

1. Crochet Stem

Make a slip knot with long tail. Wrap starting tail over hook, yarn over and pull through both loops to form an i-cord. Repeat 7 times for stem. Ch1, trim, and fasten off.

2. Pumpkin Base

  1. Ch12 (adjust height).
  2. Row 1: HDC in each st (12 HDC). Mark 1st st.
  3. Row 2–18: Ch1, turn. Work HDC in back loops only (12 per row). Repeat till Row18 (or more for bigger pumpkin).

3. Joining Panels

Fold base into a tube. Join first and last rows using slip stitch through both loops + back loop of foundation. Turn inside out for neat seam.

4. Closing Top & Adding Stem

Using top tail, weave needle through front loops around top edge. Pull tight to close. Knot with starting tail. Attach crochet stem on top with few stitches.

5. Stuffing & Closing Bottom

Stuff firmly with fiberfill. Weave orange yarn through bottom edge FLO. Pull tight to close and knot securely.

6. Shaping Pumpkin

Using top tail, insert needle from top to bottom, pull tight, and knot with bottom tail. Repeat 3–4 times around to form pumpkin ridges. Hide remaining yarn tails inside.

Written Crochet Pattern

Palette Base:

  1. Using 100% acrylic yarn and 3.5 mm hook, make a magic ring. Ch 1.
  2. Row 1: 10 HDC in magic ring. Pull tight, sl st in first st to join. (10 sts)
  3. Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as DC), DC in same st, 2 DC in each st around except last st. In last st: 1 DC, Ch 3, sl st in same st. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Color Patches (Make several):

  1. Using 100% cotton yarn and 2.5 mm hook, make a magic ring. Ch 1.
  2. 6 SC in ring, pull tight. Finish off with invisible join for neat circle. Weave in ends.
  3. Repeat with different colors for variety.

Paintbrush:

  1. Cut 4 beige yarn loops (for bristles). Tie together at center.
  2. Cut a Q-tip stick and attach to bristles with glue or brown yarn wrapping.
  3. Trim loops evenly, then unwind yarn ends for a realistic bristle look.

Assembly:

  1. Arrange color patches on one side of the palette.
  2. Place paintbrush diagonally for a decorative effect.
  3. Glue all parts securely and let dry.
  4. Attach magnet or keychain ring as desired.

Dial – Center Circle

Round 1: MR, ch1, 8 sc into ring (8)
sl st to first sc

Round 2: ch1 (don't count), 2 hdc in each st around (16)
sl st to first hdc (change color to blue)

Round 3: ch1 (ignore), *1 sc, Inc* repeat 8 times (24)
Finish with invisible join using tapestry needle

Strap

1 sc, ch3, skip 3, 1 sc → loop
Repeat for desired buckle options

Final Row

ch1, 1 sc, ch2, 1 sc → last loop
Add 3 sc in ch-2 space, 1 sc on stitch (5 total)
Fasten off & weave ends

Lock Ring

ch 5, sl st to opposite end
Fasten off & hide tails

Button

Sew button at strap end using thread or yarn. Trim excess tails.

Glue the Dial

- ch 2 (counts as 1st hdc), 9 hdc into ring (10 total)
- Pull to close, sl st to 2nd ch to join round










🧢 Outer Blue Layer:
- Change to blue yarn
- ch 3 (mark as 1st dc), 1 dc in same st
- 2 dc in each st around (total 20 dc)
- Invisible join or sl st to top of chain 3
- Weave in all tails and trim excess






Assembly:
