Crochet Floral Curtain Tutorial for Beginners – Full Written Pattern

Let's turn a plain boring window into an aesthetic masterpiece with this crochet floral curtain. This project uses 4 ply 100% cotton yarn and a 2.5 mm crochet hook. We will make daisy flowers, bell flowers, leaf strings, and a strap to assemble the curtain.

Materials

4 ply 100% cotton yarn (multiple colors)
2.5 mm crochet hook
Tapestry needle
Scissors
Glue gun or fabric glue (optional)
Stitch markers

Abbreviations (US Terms)

MR – Magic Ring
ch – Chain
sc – Single Crochet
dc – Double Crochet
sl st – Slip Stitch
inc – Increase (2 stitches in same stitch)
Shell Stitch – 5 dc in same stitch

DAISY FLOWER (Small Flower)

Center

Make a magic circle.
Ch 1.
Work 10 sc into the center.
Pull the starting tail tightly to close the circle.
Sl st into the first sc.
Ch 1, cut yarn leaving 2–3 inches, pull through and knot.

Petals

Insert hook into the stitch where you made the slip stitch.
Attach petal color yarn.
Ch 2.

In next stitch:
3 dc in the same stitch.
Ch 2.
Sl st into next stitch.

Repeat this pattern for all 5 petals:
Ch 2 → 3 dc in next stitch → Ch 2 → Sl st in next stitch.

After 5 petals:
Sl st into the previous row slst.
Ch 1, cut yarn, pull through, knot and weave ends.

You need 100 daisy flowers for the curtain.

BELL FLOWER

Base

Make a magic circle.
Ch 1.
Work 5 sc into the center.
Pull tail slightly (do not close tightly).
working in spirals

Round 2

In each stitch: 2 sc (5 increases).
Total: 10 sc.

Round 3

Pattern: 1 sc, inc.
Repeat around.
Total: 15 sc.

Round 4

Pattern: 2 sc, inc.
Repeat around.
Total: 20 sc.

Rounds 5–9

1 sc in each stitch (20 sc per round).
Creates a dome shape.

Round 10 – Petals (Front Loop Only)

Work in front loops only.

*1 sc in front loop.
Skip next stitch.
In next stitch: Shell stitch (5 dc in same front loop).
Skip next stitch.*

Repeat to make 5 petals.

Sl st to first stitch.
Ch 1, cut yarn, knot and weave ends.

You need 17 bell flowers for the curtain.

STRAP (Top Band)

Make a long foundation chain (approx. 32–34 inches).
Row 1:
Skip 3 chains, dc in 4th chain.
Dc in each chain across.

Rows 2–6 (Mesh Pattern):
Ch 3, turn.
Skip 1 stitch, dc in next stitch.
Ch 1.
Repeat: skip 1, dc in next.
Continue to end.







Row 7 (Solid Border):
Ch 3, turn.
Dc in chain-1 gaps and dc on top of each dc.
Continue to end.
Ch 1, cut yarn, pull through and knot.

STRINGS (Flower + Leaf Strings)

Fold strap in half to find center.
Mark center with stitch marker.
Fold again to find equal spacing for remaining strings. Mark total 17 points at equal distance for 17 strings

To make a string:
Insert hook into marked stitch.
Include starting tail end inside the chain.

Make 32 chains → make a leaf. attach flower at the 16th chain of ch-32
Leaf: Ch 6, sl st into 7th chain from hook.

Repeat:
32 chains → leaf
32 chains → leaf
32 chains → leaf
32 chains → leaf

After 4 leaves, make 16 chains → attach bell flower.

Attach bell flower:
Insert hook into bell flower magic ring.
Pull string tail through.
Tie 2–3 tight knots.
Trim ends (no need to weave).

Repeat this process for all strings across the strap.

Final Assembly

Attach all strings evenly across the strap.
Use stitch markers to maintain equal spacing.
Hang the strap on a curtain rod or nails.
Adjust flowers and leaves for a neat look.

Your crochet floral curtain is now ready!

Easy Crochet Scarf Tutorial for Beginners – Simple 2 Row Repeat Pattern

Looking for an easy crochet scarf tutorial for beginners? This simple crochet scarf pattern uses a two row repeat stitch that creates a beautiful textured design with minimal effort.

This scarf is beginner-friendly and perfect for learning double crochet stitches and mesh crochet patterns. The pattern alternates between a solid row and mesh row, creating a light, stylish scarf suitable for fall and winter.

This pattern can be easily customized to make scarves of different lengths and widths by adjusting the starting chain.

Materials Required

4 Weight Medium Acrylic Yarn (Loops & Threads Facets Acrylic or similar)
4 mm Crochet Hook
Stitch Marker
Tapestry Needle
Scissors

In the original tutorial, Loops and Threads yarn was used. However, you can use any yarn of your choice with a suitable hook size.

Abbreviations Used

ch – chain
dc – double crochet
st – stitch

Pattern Notes

Foundation chain must be an odd number.
Chain 2 at the start of each row is a height chain and is ignored.
The pattern alternates between mesh row and solid row.
First and last three stitches remain solid to form a clean border.

Foundation Chain

Begin with a slip knot.

Make a foundation chain of your desired length. For the full scarf example, 267 chains were made. For the sample demonstration, 21 chains were used.

Ensure the number of chains is odd.

Row 1 – Double Crochet Row

Chain 2 (height chain – ignore).
Make 1 double crochet in the first chain.
Place a stitch marker in the first DC to track the stitch.
Continue making 1 DC in each chain across.
You will have the same number of DC stitches as your foundation chain.

Example: If you made 21 chains, you will have 21 double crochet stitches.

Row 2 – Mesh Pattern Row

Chain 2 and turn.
Make 3 double crochet stitches in the first three stitches.
This creates a clean border.
Chain 1.
Skip the next stitch.
Make 1 double crochet in the following stitch.
Repeat: Chain 1, skip 1 stitch, 1 DC in next stitch.
Continue until the last three stitches remain.
Make 1 DC in each of the last three stitches.

This row creates the mesh or hollow square pattern.

Row 3 – Solid Row

Chain 2 and turn.
Make 3 double crochet stitches at the beginning.
Then work into the mesh spaces:
Make 1 DC in the chain-1 space.
Make 1 DC on top of the previous DC.
Repeat: 1 DC in chain space, 1 DC on top of DC.
Continue across the row.
Finish with 3 DC stitches at the end.

Now you will see the alternating pattern:

Solid Row
Mesh Row
Solid Row

Repeating the Pattern

Continue repeating:

Row 2 – Mesh Row
Row 3 – Solid Row

Repeat these rows until the scarf reaches your desired width.

The example scarf was made with 13 rows. For smaller samples you can make:

9 rows
11 rows
13 rows

Always end with an odd number of rows.

Finishing the Scarf

Once the desired size is reached, chain 1.
Pull the yarn through and cut the yarn.
Secure the final stitch.

Adding Tassels

Wrap yarn around a book several times.
Cut the loops to create strands.
Take three strands together.
Fold them in half.
Insert hook into the chain-2 gap at the edge.
Pull the folded yarn through.
Pull the tail ends through the loop to secure.
Repeat on alternate rows.

Attach tassels on both sides of the scarf.

Final Touch

Use a tapestry needle to weave the starting and ending yarn tails into the tassels to hide them neatly.

Abbreviations

Scrunchie Center (Brown)

Make a slip knot and attach yarn to the hook.

Insert hook around the hair tie.
Yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through both loops = SC.

Continue making SC all around the hair tie.
Make sure stitches are close together with no gaps.

Once full round is complete:
SL ST into the first SC.
CH 1.
Trim yarn leaving 2-3 inches of tail.
Weave in both tail ends neatly using tapestry needle.

Sunflower Petals (Yellow)

Insert hook into both loops of any SC stitch on the scrunchie.

Place yellow yarn on hook and pull through.
CH 10.

SL ST into the next stitch on the base to form the first petal.

Repeat for entire round:
CH 10 → SL ST into next stitch.

To adjust petal size:
CH 15 for longer petals.
CH 7 for smaller petals.

When last petal is complete:
SL ST to the first stitch to close the round.
