How to Crochet a Lotus Flower – Free Pattern
Materials
- 4-ply cotton yarn – Green, Yellow, Pink
- 2.5 mm crochet hook
- Fiberfill stuffing
- Tapestry needle, stitch marker, scissors
- Fabric glue (optional)
Step by Step Crochet Lotus Pattern
Base (Green & Yellow)
- Start with green: MR, ch3, 13 DC in ring (14 total). Join.
- Row 2: 2 DC in each st (28 total).
- Row 3: [1 DC, 1 Inc] repeat (42 total).
- Row 4: [2 DC, 1 Inc] repeat (56 total). Join.
- Repeat rows 1–4 in yellow for top base.
- Row 5: With green, work in back loops only: [3 HDC, Inc] (70 sts).
- Row 6: [4 HDC, Inc] in BLO (84 sts).
- Row 7: Petals – Ch2, DC, TR + picot, HTR + DC in same st, ch2, sl st in next. Repeat 21 times.
Pink Petals
- Ch6 + ch1. Row 1: 2 SC, 2 HDC, 1 DC, 6 DC in last st, continue on other side: 1 DC, 2 HDC, 2 SC. Join.
- Row 2: 2 SC, 2 HDC, 1 DC, (3 DC Inc), Ch3 picot, (3 DC Inc), 1 DC, 2 HDC, 2 SC. Sl st to join.
- Fasten off leaving long tail. Make 25 petals.
Pollen (Yellow)
Repeat base pattern rows 1–5 in yellow. On last row: [Ch3, skip 1, sl st in next FLO]. Repeat around. Stuff lightly and attach to base using FLO of green + BLO of yellow. Leave 1.5" gap for stuffing, then close.
Assembly
Attach 25 pink petals around the base, spacing with 4-st gaps. Use tapestry needle or glue. Work in two rows for fullness. Attach first & last petals together to close the circle. Hide tails.
