Amigurumi Brinjal | Easy Eggplant Crochet Pattern for Kids Play Food

Crochet this adorable amigurumi brinjal (eggplant) using simple stitches and cotton yarn! This project is great for toy baskets, pretend play kitchens, or vegetable-themed decor. It’s beginner-friendly and fun to make!

Materials:

• 4 ply cotton yarn – Green & Purple
• 3 mm crochet hook
• Fiberfill stuffing
• Tapestry needle, scissors
• Optional: glue gun or fabric glue

Written Pattern – Amigurumi Brinjal

Stem (I-cord):

- Leave a long tail. Make slip knot.
- Wrap tail around hook to create 2 loops.
- Yarn over, pull through both loops.
- Repeat wrapping & pulling 6–7 times.
- Ch 1, fasten off. Trim excess.

Seple (Leaf Crown):

R1: MR, 10 sc into ring, leave gap for stem.
R2: 1 sc in each st (10)
R3: (1 sc, inc) x 5 (15)

R4 (points):
Repeat 5 times:
  sl st, (sc, dc, ch 3)
  sl st to dc (pod stitch)
  sc in same st, sl st next
Fasten off.

Brinjal Base:

R1: MR, 10 sc
R2: 1 sc in each st (10)
R3: (1 sc, inc) x 5 (15)
R4–5: 1 sc in each st (15)

Attach stem + seple here

R6: (4 sc, inc) x 3 (18)
R7–9: 1 sc in each st (18)
R10: (5 sc, inc) x 3 (21)
R11: (6 sc, inc) x 3 (24)
R12–14: 1 sc in each st (24)
R15: (4 sc, inv dec) x 4 (20)
R16: (2 sc, inv dec) x 4 (16)
R17: 1 sc in each st (16)
R18: (2 sc, inv dec) x 4 (12)

Stuff firmly

R19: 6 inv dec (6)
Close with sl st, ch 1, leave long tail

Shaping:

- Use tail end to pass through final 6 sts
- Pull tight and knot
- Create dents: insert needle from bottom, out one side, back across to opposite
- Pull tightly, knot to hold dented shape

Final Touch:

• Secure seple to top using hot glue or fabric glue
• Optional: Add face with safety eyes or embroidery for toy use
