Crochet Pumpkin Tutorial – Free Pattern

Materials Needed

Step by Step Crochet Pumpkin Pattern

1. Crochet Stem

Make a slip knot with long tail. Wrap starting tail over hook, yarn over and pull through both loops to form an i-cord. Repeat 7 times for stem. Ch1, trim, and fasten off.

2. Pumpkin Base

  1. Ch12 (adjust height).
  2. Row 1: HDC in each st (12 HDC). Mark 1st st.
  3. Row 2–18: Ch1, turn. Work HDC in back loops only (12 per row). Repeat till Row18 (or more for bigger pumpkin).

3. Joining Panels

Fold base into a tube. Join first and last rows using slip stitch through both loops + back loop of foundation. Turn inside out for neat seam.

4. Closing Top & Adding Stem

Using top tail, weave needle through front loops around top edge. Pull tight to close. Knot with starting tail. Attach crochet stem on top with few stitches.

5. Stuffing & Closing Bottom

Stuff firmly with fiberfill. Weave orange yarn through bottom edge FLO. Pull tight to close and knot securely.

6. Shaping Pumpkin

Using top tail, insert needle from top to bottom, pull tight, and knot with bottom tail. Repeat 3–4 times around to form pumpkin ridges. Hide remaining yarn tails inside.

Step by Step Crochet Lotus Pattern

Base (Green & Yellow)

  1. Start with green: MR, ch3, 13 DC in ring (14 total). Join.
  2. Row 2: 2 DC in each st (28 total).
  3. Row 3: [1 DC, 1 Inc] repeat (42 total).
  4. Row 4: [2 DC, 1 Inc] repeat (56 total). Join.
  5. Repeat rows 1–4 in yellow for top base.
  6. Row 5: With green, work in back loops only: [3 HDC, Inc] (70 sts).
  7. Row 6: [4 HDC, Inc] in BLO (84 sts).
  8. Row 7: Petals – Ch2, DC, TR + picot, HTR + DC in same st, ch2, sl st in next. Repeat 21 times.

Pink Petals

  1. Ch6 + ch1. Row 1: 2 SC, 2 HDC, 1 DC, 6 DC in last st, continue on other side: 1 DC, 2 HDC, 2 SC. Join.
  2. Row 2: 2 SC, 2 HDC, 1 DC, (3 DC Inc), Ch3 picot, (3 DC Inc), 1 DC, 2 HDC, 2 SC. Sl st to join.
  3. Fasten off leaving long tail. Make 25 petals.

Pollen (Yellow)

Repeat base pattern rows 1–5 in yellow. On last row: [Ch3, skip 1, sl st in next FLO]. Repeat around. Stuff lightly and attach to base using FLO of green + BLO of yellow. Leave 1.5" gap for stuffing, then close.

Assembly

Attach 25 pink petals around the base, spacing with 4-st gaps. Use tapestry needle or glue. Work in two rows for fullness. Attach first & last petals together to close the circle. Hide tails.

  • 4-ply 100% Cotton Yarn (Cream & Yellow)
  • Crochet Hook – 2.5 mm
  • Metallic Zari Thread (for crown edging)
  • Fiberfill Stuffing
  • Tapestry Needle & Stitch Marker
  • 4‑ply 100% cotton yarn – cream & green
  • 2.5 mm crochet hook; 1 mm hook (for metallic thread)

Assembly

Attach the trunk at the center of the head, stitch the ears on either side, and place the crown & crown circle on top. Secure all parts with sewing needle.

Hands

From Part‑2 tutorial steps. Maintain right side facing out; lightly stuff only to hold shape.

  1. R1: MR, 6 sc. (6)
  2. R2: sc in each st. (6)
  3. R3–R5: sc around. (6)
  4. R6: FLO[sc, inc] ×3 → (9). (Creates palm fold)
  5. R7–R15: sc around (9); pause mid‑way to add a little stuffing; do not over‑stuff.
  6. Fasten off with long tail for sewing; shape palm fold from the FLO ridge.

Bracelet: Metallic thread, ch≈10 (to fit around Row 6). Tie/secure; optionally glue; hide tails inside stuffing. Repeat for second hand.

Legs

Work in continuous rounds; keep stuffing very light/flexible.

  1. R1: MR, 6 sc. (6)
  2. R2–R4: sc around. (6)
  3. R5: change color; [sc, inc] ×3 → (9)
  4. R6–R8: sc around. (9)
  5. R9: [2 sc, inc] ×3 → (12)

  5. R5: [3 sc, inc] ×6 → 30.
  6. R6–R10: sc around (30); switch to cream.
  7. R11–R16: sc around (30); stuff body.

  9. R18: [2 sc, inv‑dec] ×6 → 18.

Waist Snake Belt (Metallic Thread)

  1. Make a foundation chain to fit waist; in the middle work ch‑4, sl st (picot/hood). Shape like a small snake.
  2. Pin position (right belly), knot at back; secure with fabric glue; sink tails into stuffing; let dry fully.

Necklace (Front Motif + Back Chains)

  1. Front motif base: ch 21 + ch 1 (turning). Work: 2 sc, 2 hdc, 4 dc, 2 tr, center shell (tr, tr, picot, tr in same), then mirror back: 2 tr, 4 dc, 2 hdc, 2 sc.
  2. Back ties: make continuous chains to reach back; leave extra thread to adjust during assembly; secure later.

Crochet Laddu & Mini Trunk Bobble

  1. Laddu (puff): With yellow, sl knot → ch3; in 1st ch, yarn‑over & draw up loop to ch‑2 height, repeat 4×; yo, pull through all loops, ch1. Leave 4–5″ tails; knot tails together to round the sphere.
