Crochet Chess King – Step-by-Step Amigurumi Pattern

๐งต Crochet Chess King – Written Pattern
Note: We work in joined rounds (not spirals), using chain one to begin each row.
๐ Head Section
- Start with a magic ring, chain 1. Make 5 sc in ring, pull tight. Sl st to first stitch. (5)
- Row 2: 2 sc in each st around. Sl st. (10)
- Row 3: (sc, inc) x5. Sl st. (15)
- Row 4: Back loops only – sc in each st around. Sl st. (15)
- Row 5: (3 sc, invisible decrease) x3. Sl st. (12)
- Row 6: (2 sc, invisible decrease) x3. Sl st. (9)
- Row 7: (sc, invisible decrease) x3. Sl st. (6)
- Stuff head firmly with fiberfill.
- Row 8: Front loops only – 2 sc in each st. Sl st. (12)
- Row 9: Back loops only – sc in each st. Sl st. (12)
- Row 10: Back loops – (sc2tog) x6. Sl st. (6)
๐ Neck & Body Section
- Row 11: Front loops – sc in each st. Sl st. (6)
- Row 12: (sc, inc) x3. Sl st. (9)
- Row 13 & 14: sc in each st around. Sl st. (9)
- Row 15: (2 sc, inc) x3. Sl st. (12)
- Row 16 & 17: sc in each st. Sl st. (12)
- Stuff body and shape firmly.
- Row 18: (3 sc, inc) x3. Sl st. (15)
- Row 19: sc in each st. Sl st. (15)
- Row 20: (4 sc, inc) x3. Sl st. (18)
- Row 21 & 22: sc in each st. Sl st. (18)
๐งฉ Base Closing
- Row 23: Back loops – (sc, sc2tog) x6. Sl st. (12)
- Stuff base firmly and shape.
- Row 24: Front loops – (invisible decrease) x6. Sl st, chain 1, fasten off.
๐ Finishing Touches
- Using yarn needle, draw tail through front loops of Row 24 and cinch tightly.
- Insert needle through base and out through top to flatten the base and create vertical tension.
- Secure with knots and weave in ends.
๐ Decorative Border (Row 4 Detail)
- Use embroidery thread and 1.25mm hook.
- Join into Row 4’s front loops with slip knot.
- Chain 1, sc around including the tail end. Sl st to close, fasten off, weave in ends.
๐งธ Pom-Pom Crown
- Wrap embroidery thread 4–5 times around finger. Remove, tie tightly with separate thread.
- Trim ends to shape and fluff with needle to create a rounded pom-pom.
- Attach to top of King with yarn needle and secure with knots.
